Default XJ8 brake lights stuck on when car is started

I have an 01 XJ8. When I turn my car on all brake lights, tail and window come on. If I tap on the brake it doesn't make it brighter but when I lift of it flickers but stays on. any suggestions?

I've moved your question from New Member Area - Intro a MUST to X308 forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

Sounds like it is time to replace the brake light switch. Look under the dash at the pedals. Is the brake light switch extended? It is possible it has come lose and needs to be adjusted. It is a normally open switch and closes when the pedal moves away from the switch. If the pedal isn't touching and pushing the plunger in when at rest it may have come lose and is out of adjustment. If not the switch has gone bad. Do an advanced search for brake switch on the x308 forum and there will be lots of info for repair.
