XJR VVT carrier removal
Hey guys, did some searching but could not get an answer. Looking to eliminate the vvt carriers from a s/c engine. Im wondering if the oil feed
needs to be plugged. If air is blown into one head it comes out the other, but im not sure if it goes anywhere else.

The bracket that the selenoid sits in. A couple of your posts explain plugging the passage way that would feed into the bracket on n/a cars. On a s/c motor, is that same passage way an active oil feed. If air is used in one passage way it comes out the other passage way on the other head. Is oil being fed through that passage from anywhere else on a s/c motor. In essance can i simply toss the bracket in the trash?

What engine do you have? AJ 26 SC or AJ 27 SC ?
What year is your car ?
My 98 XJR do not have those carriers, the X308 JTIS do not show those carriers on an SC engine.
Have your heads been swapped for NA heads at some point?

I have just repaired 2 S/C engines in the last few weeks (cylinder head R&R). There is no VVT solenoid bracket on the S/C engine.
Maybe someone installed NA heads on the S/C engine and did not want to plug the oil passages?????
You do realize that the passages need to be plugged??????
The TSB shows the location of the plug and description on how to remove but it sounds like you need to INSTALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That would be pretty strange. I feel as though I have seen this before on the early s/c cars. Perhaps i'm wrong. Well ill order some plugs, hope they are available and easy to install.
The plug is NOT sold by Jaguar. It was installed and was meant to be removed if necessary. There was a discussion on this subject a few months ago and I think someone tapped a pipe thread and installed a plug.
