Default XJR wheel center cap

Hi there,

I lost one of the wheel center caps when pressure washing my 2001 XJR a week ago (d'oh). The internet is full of a variety of center caps and usually ebay descriptions are totally confusing, so now I have to ask this forum: Is there a difference between XJ8, XJ6 and XJR wheel center caps? Or can I go by the rule "if the picture looks like the ones I have they should fit"?

Hint: they have a silver emblem on black background.

Any online shop recommendations?

I happen to have one new hub cap as shown on the pictures. See if it looks the same as what you have. The dimensions are: 58 mm diameter across the chrome rim (max diameter), the clips fit a 51 mm dia. hole in the rim, the clips are 10 mm long (measured from the back surface of the badge) and the hook on the clips is positioned 8 mm from the back of the chrome rim.

If it's OEM wheel & cap they all are interchangeable.

However, in a pinch, you can repair them with epoxy. Lasted nearly three years on my left rear; two years on right front. Other wheels were sturdier guys . . .

Just be sure you get a 3D one (guess that is what the other 3 are on your car), most cheap eBay listings are the later flat ones.

+1 to what EJ said, I found mine @ a fraction of the MSRP @ Galaxy, they were mint condition as well.

Thanks for the offer. The size looks correct, and so does the design. However, when measuring I just realized that mine actually have a GREY background to match the car paint (silver grey, like in my profile picture). That's a bummer, I guess I'll have to find that color or get four new ones in black.

Here is a picture of the Union Jack center caps on my car. I have the original growler caps, but these are my favorite.

Those are VERY nice! Very classy. Not too "Union Jack", and yet a hint of it there in subdued coloring. And the "Jaguar" print just adds the final touch.

Here are the ones I bought.

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F162015331302

I initially ordered a cheaper set but they ended up being cheap knockoffs and, to me, looked very tacky. These are more expensive but they are OEM and have a nice understated look, which I really like.

Slightly off topic: I have ordered a number of parts from this same place on eBay and have always been happy. Always OEM as advertised. Seems like a reputable seller.

In my opinion, eBay prices for new and used parts are super inflated from time to time, and totally out of wack with reality.
2 samples of my recent purchases:
- This guy offers the 4.2L Thermostat for USD. 81, the EXACT same one from British Parts costs GBP 9.82, which is some USD. 13 (...)
- Newer model 1996-2005 XK8 seat belt buckles are 2nd hand advertised at some USD.100-150, with questionable quality, while a brand new one costs USD. 100.
What I want to say is, you can improve a lot on prices and/or quality by checking prices for new parts with guys like British Parts.
