Default ZF5HP-24 Transmission fluid

Okay, I've researched this up the ying-yang, but I don't seem to find a positive answer.

Apparently the original transmission fluid in our X308 ZF5HP-24 automatic transmissions was Esso LT-71141, a semi-synthetic fluid.

1) Is this still available (Esso became Mobil which became Exxon ......or something like that).

2) If Esso is not available, what should be used?

I'm having the Transgo mod done soon and wanted to be sure they use the "correct" fluid.

You can always use the jaguar fluid, but many of us passed on that because of the cost. Other fluids meet the spec. and I for one, don't think there's magic involved.

I used Castrol European in my 97 for 15K mi without a problem after changing the main pressure valve for the ZF upgrade.

I ordered off of eBay when I serviced mine a few years ago. Here's a couple of current links to the type of fluid I ordered. I drove the car another 10,000 miles after the service without a hiccup.

It appears to be made by the same company that made the transmission.

Febi Bilstein ATF Transmission Fluid is Esso LT 71141 equivalent & fairly priced.

The lifeguard is the OE fluid ... I believe the authorized dealers of the rebuilt have to use it.. That said ...... Febi most likely made it.

Febi makes great stuff
