Default 1988 XJ6 (US) CBC2695 Right side Aircon Blower

Hi folks, I have removed the right hand side air conditioner blower from my early 1988 XJ6. The electronics seem fine and only thing that seems to be bad is the actual blower fan itself, as it makes a squeaking racket when turning. I am open to replacing the blower fan motor assembly only if that's possible, but will settle for replacing the entire unit if need be. I have heard these early CBC2695 units are known as being problematic and were changed to CBC8966 units for later XJ40s.
So, threefold question:
1) Is there any recommended place to source the blower fan motor only? Is there an individual part number for this bit?
2) If not, is there any recommended place to source a replacement CBC2695 right hand blower side unit?
3) Failing that, is the CBC8966 used in later production models a suitable drop-in replacement?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

VIN is 551634; I suspect that information may be of use to this question.

You can look up the parts/ part numbers on Jaguars' heritage site, parts.jaguarlandrover.com (and buy too if youd like). You can then use the numbers to see what is available for your car from other vendors or what if any other vehicles used that part. The climate control unit changed for 93, but i am not sure if 87/8 thru 92 are "interchangeable". I suspect that they are not although it could be as minor as a different electrical plug. The blower motors are yet another weak spot due to their less-than- stellar placement. they tend to fill with moisture and, as with yours, freeze up.
I'll put this further question out to the crowd- Can the blower be rebuilt as far as replacing the bad bearings?
