Default Brake shift interlock

Yesterday, I picked up a 1992 XJ40 (California car with no rust). It ran but the starter solenoid would keep the starter engaged. I believe that the problem is with the switch as the key does not spring back to the "ON" position when I release the key after starting the car. I was able to drive the car onto the car hauler and brought the car home.

Fast Forward: Today I decided to steam clean the engine bay because it was so dirty you could not see the paint color in the engine bay.
After drying off the engine bay with compressed air making sure I dried all of the electrical connectors, I started the car. (Started still staying engaged on the ring gear. I will attend to that after I resolve this issue.
I started the car but now the car is stuck in the Park position.
Is there any way to disable the Brake shift interlock on this car?
It was working fine before I steam cleaned the engine bay.
I also forced the shifter and broke the plastic piece in the J-gate. See attached pic.
Is the Brake Shift Interlock electrically operated? and if so, where do I start to diagnose this problem.

1992 XJ40: I am posting some pics of the area where the shifter is. there are no micro switches or solenoids in there.
Where is the brake interlock solenoid located or how does the system work. I have searched the manuals that I have for info but there is nothing that tells me anything.'Does anyone have an electrical schematic for the interlock system for this car. If so can you post it?

@ motorcarman.
STRANGE: Prior to this problem, the shifter lever would not come out of Park unless you press the brake pedal. The same goes for my 1990 XJ40.
Anyway, I think I found the problem.
I disconnected the shifter cable from under the J-gate and from the transmission. It does not move. It is frozen solid.
Question is why did this happen after I steam cleaned the engine bay.
A short to power somewhere? Possible ?

The gearshift interlock was introduced for the North American 1993MY. (page 12 Jaguar publication S-78 Sedan Range 93MY update)

Always good to quote the VIN of the car in the sig file..maybe you have a late reg 92 that is actually a 93MY?
