Default coolant reservoir cap rubber gasket/radio mast

need rubber gasket replaced in cap. All I can find are caps with gasket in place. Ranging from $18.00 (U.S.) and up. any one ever use or find aftermarket gasket only of similar size that would work???? Also put new kenwood radio in. Power motor for antennae works but mast was broke off. where can I find just the mast to replace it or can it be replaced??? thanks in advance to all . OH!!! decided not to sell my XJ6. Going to give to my son who is active duty Air Force and deployed to Mid-east right now. Fell in love with it on first sight and begged me for it!!!!

Hi beegee,

Please give our thanks to your son for his service. We don't take it for granted!

As you can see in the various eBay listings Larry linked to, some masts come with a new nut and some do not. You can usually re-use your old nut, but if it is worn or damaged you may want to pick a mast that comes with a new nut.

Regarding the coolant reservoir cap gasket, as far as I know, Jaguar never offered the gasket separately - you could only purchase a new cap. With a washer cutter and scrap of rubber sheet from a craft store like Hobby Lobby or Joann Fabric, or a commercial roofing company, you could make your own replacement gasket. But you may decide it's more prudent to just purchase a new cap, since, at least for some model years, the cap has a pressure-relief valve that can fail over time.

Which reminds me, you don't mention the year of your XJ6. It is helpful if you use your User Control Panel (User CP link above left) to edit your signature and add the year, model and engine displacement so others don't have to ask in order to give accurate replies. For example, there were at least three different coolant reservoir and cap designs used on XJ40s depending on the model year.

Cheers,

Don
