Electric windows open when lock or unlock
Hello D4super,
Welcome to the Jaguar Forums! It's great to have you with us.
I have moved your post from the forum for the X308 to the forum for the XJ40, which is the Jaguar factory project code for your 1989 XJ6. Here you will find knowledgeable owners of similar cars.
In the meantime, please visit the New Member Area - Intro a MUST and post a required introduction so we can learn something about you and your Jaguar and give you a proper welcome.
Cheers,
Don

Hi Jerry,
Thanks for your help! When I try to lock or unlock the car with the key ALL the windows go down. If I am very careful and lucky it does not happen. I have found that one of the cells in my battery is in a 'recharge' state whilst the others are ok, so maybe a new battery will solve he problem. I also have a clicking starter not starting until I put on charge after which car starts so I think dodgy battery most likely. Added to this my inside drivers door handle will not open but outside will, presumably the cable inside the door has come out and I will have to remove my door panel, which may reveal the situation you mentioned! It never rains but it pours!
Happy new year and kind thanks for your suggestions,
Tony

The feature is called GLOBAL OPEN/GLOBAL CLOSE and that is the way it functions if you lock/unlock and HOLD the key in one of those positions.
If you just twist the key and QUICKLY return, you should only trip the locks and not activate the windows.
The sliding roof (if equipped) should also react.

Hi Bob,
Thank you kindly for your tip. The Windows opening occurs when I open by twist no return, I am not holding the key to get global open, so in effect I am getting global open without operating for that function,
regards,
Tony
