Interchangeable Heads
If you are in need of a head for your xj40 89-94, let it be known the heads are interchangeable. The valve covers are not. 89-92 are, 93-94 stand alone.
I recently put a 94 head on a 90 and and the valve cover is different. Also, the timing chain guard you will need to use from the 93-94, the 89-92 timing chain guard blocks the screw hole for the valve cover on the 93-94 cars.
The oil vent on the 93-94 valve cover is in a different location than on the valve cover on the 89-92, you will need to get a 1/2 to 5/8ths reducer, for the hose. The output on the 93-94 valve cover is 1/2in the 89-92 is 5/8th

Note also that the late '94 cam covers are different too. On the '93-to-early '94 cars the cam cover is affixed with 7 screws, but on the late '94 cars like Larry's the cover is affixed with more screws, maybe 11 or 13? Hopefully Larry will see this and confirm the number.
Cheers,
Don
