I found the alarm system back up battery today when I was fixing the
drivers side (UK) blower. It is completely dead - zero volts - and needs
replacing.
Am I right in assuming that replacing this will enable me to disconnect
the main battery without having to re-program the alarm each time?
Yep, thats correct, is the battery 0.5 Ah ?
I could’nt source on in the UK, but you may be able to tape a 1Ah battery in
place, lasts twice as long. I bought a charger for mine, as the main battery
is out of the car over the winter, so I also remove the back up, discharge
it and recharge it, keeps it healthy
That's an interesting thread, Al. Have you looked up the TSBs that Bob Gauff mentioned? I wonder if they might mention this elusive battery?
I thought it was interesting that highhopes said, "As far as I know nobody has ever seen the back-up battery on a '94
XJ40." I will be very curious to hear what you eventually learn on this topic.
