Welcome to the forum Yonni,

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to XJ40 forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

Please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST forum and post some information about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice about posting to the forum.

Hi Yonni,

Welcome to the Jaguar Forums! It's great to have you with us, but I'm sorry for your problem.

If you're lucky, you may have just blown a fuse. Start with the fuses in the right hand A-pillar fuse box, then the center fuse box, then the left A-pillar fuse box (in order of their proximity to the battery).

You can download the Electrical Guide here:

Jaguar XJ40 Electrical Guide 1993

Please keep us informed.

Cheers,

Don

Owner of a independent I used to work for did this to a customers vehicle.
I had found some fuses had blown, replaced them. All was ok.

I'd start by going through the fuse boxes and replacing any blown fuses, then check to see if the vehicle starts etc....

I seem to remember in our '93 there was one fuse that, when it blew, would cause your very symptoms: no instrument cluster and no starter engagement. I want to say it was in the left A-pillar fuse box, and it may be fuse B5 (10A), which supplies power to the instrument cluster power supply. It would be worth double-checking that fuse.

Cheers,

Don
