Default torque settings

Anyone know the torque settings for the sub frame bolts, rear and the four locating the sub frame v mounts?

I think those torque specs are in the Haynes manual, which you can download here:

If you can't find them there, let me know and I'll look them up in the Jaguar Workshop Manual tonight - I have to run to a tennis date but I'll be back in a few hours.

Cheers,

Don

I think these are the specs you need (from the JDHT DVD Service Manual front suspension torque figures section):

Crossmember inner upper bolts 22-28 Nm

Crossmember outer lower bolts 24- 30 Nm

I know Jaguar calls the subframes "crossmembers," so these must be the specs for the upper Vee mount bolts and the rear lower pivot bolts, and they must be the specs I used because they're the only torque specs I can find for the crossmember.

Cheers,

Don

30 nm seems ridiculously light for the big bolt at the lower rear sub frame....

It does seem light, but all the nut really has to do is keep the bolt from falling out. All the stress is on the bushing, bolt, and the brackets through which the bolt passes. There's no stress on the nut, and you don't want to tighten it so much that you deform the brackets.

Do I recall correctly that the nut is a Nyloc type? If so, the risk of it coming off is low.
