Default 1975 xj6L series2 MASTER CYLINDER HELP

Ok so I noticed the mc was leaking and pulled it off. Ordered a rebuild kit took it apart honed cylinder put new rubber on both pistons reinstalled all hunky dory
I put the new rubber seal in where the plastic elbow goes from fluid resivoir and can't get the elbow in to save my soul!!!!' I reused one coz the kit didn't have 2 thanks sngbarret for that after a 2 month wait.
Todayi put mc in car thinking it may help hold it so I can wrestle the elbow in to no avail.
Also thinking the reused seal is leaking unless u have to gorilla tighten the clamp but anyways.
Seeing how it's 155$ for another mc if Terrys still got em. They don't have elbows installed so even if I shell the money for one I'm still kinda where I'm at now.
Is there a chevy mc or something that has the same size and will bolt up to the power brake deal like the original mc??
Cheapest one I found with elbows is like 450$ I can't do that
hopefully I can get guidance from the jag masters
thanks
bill

I also have a leaking master cylinder on my Series II and I'm thinking about upgrading to Series III master cylinder with reservoir:
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/aaz-13-2456
According to some members here, it should fit with no modifications needed.

see I thought about using that exact one before buying the original reproduction type it's half the money and appears to have the option to install elbows if u want to use external mc. My thoughts on it is any mc that fits the bolt pattern and cylinder size should work as long as the rod pushes it far enough?

The Series III will fit and you get the benefit of a new white reservoir instead of the yellow'ed out remote one.

Series 3 MC will have metric fittings, you will have to adapt at least one line...be sure you get the reservoir or you can use your remote reservoir if you have
the adapter plugs. To use the S3 reservoir (if it does not come with one) you have to order the rebuild kit to get the seal for the reservoir.. stupid I know, but ask me how I found out! Your old wiring and cap will still work. My car is a Series 1 and it works with the new MC fine.

When done, at least you can find the later MC anywhere.

Doesn't Series II already come with metric brake line fittings? I thought only Series I had SAE brake line fittings?
