Default 1987 XJ6 Series III VIN range?

Does anybody have access to the beginning and ending range for the 1987 XJ6 Series III? I can easily find the starting VIN for this model year, but I can't seem to find the last. I'm interested to determine how close my car was to the end of production for this wonderful model. I know I should be able to determine the month of production, which I will do as soon as I get back home in 2 weeks. Any info or suggested sources would be highly appreciated.

What I do know is that the last XJ6 Series 3 left the factory in May 1987. I believe this car was retained and is now in the Jaguar Heritage collection.

477824 was the last car, and kept by Jaguar, as Fraser says.

477823 was sent to Los Angeles on May 1st, 1987.

I've often wondered if the owner knew what he bought?

Cheers

Name: Jag XK6 Green4.jpg
Views: 1564
Size: 1.1 KBI just bought Number 476456!!

That's 1,368 from the end. A shinning British Racing Green with tan hides. Beautiful car and paid only $3000 here in S.Cal with all of 140,000 miles on her.

My Jag has two different VIN #s, one on the windscreen and the other in the engine side on the plate where the two engine braze bars meet towards the windscreen. Why two VIN?

Is that what other jags have?

The VIN in the engine bay is the original Jaguar VIN.
Some countries (USA for example) have their own VIN requirements/language. When exporting cars Jaguar added a second VIN to comply....which appears on the windscreen tag and elsewhere.

Interesting info but it may also add to the confusion, as it shows the last 6 cylinder car (477824) associated with 10/86 (October 1986) when it was actually built in April 1987
