84 xj6 shifter identification plate
The shifter identification plate on my xj6 is cracked. Moss motors sells a replacement for cars w/o cruise control but my car has CC. does anybody know of a source for a replacement? Also how do I get it out? the front is retained by a small screw and the rear looks to be retained by the CC switch? can I just pry the switch out and remove screw? or is it retained from underneath requiring console removal?
Thanks,
RG

Google "CAC4770 Jaguar" for a replacement part.
The cruise control switch must be unclipped from below. You'll have to remove the ski slope and then remove the black plastic shifter shroud to release the switch and then disconnect the switch wiring...which extends (disappears) well forward, and to the left, of the gearshift assembly

There are ground wires in ring connectors that go under the washers and nuts, the Opti Cell Cables are routed on the side of the shroud.
The two side plates shown in the above drawing by themselves are actually rivetted to the shroud, they are not separate pieces. Removing the clip from under the Resume / Off switch is a p.i.t.a.
It is a very delicate job.

Remove the cubby box lid and the cubby box.
You can now remove the connectors from the 6 switches. They just wriggle off.
Remove the ashtray assemblies. If you pull out the ashtrays you'll see the screws that hold the housings in place.
Remove the single screw at the top of the ski slope, above the switches.
You should now be able to lift the ski slope out.
Then remove the plastic shroud that covers the gearshift assembly. The black plastic kobs of the gearshift must come off; they just unscrew.
All this from memory....but should be enough to head you in the right direction
