Default aftermarket central locking for series 3 ?

HI All,

Does anyone know if there's a post anywhere about replacing the factory kiekart system with something like these MES units? and ideally a how to do it is what I'm dreaming of !?

and if so would I have to replace all the door & trunk slave units?

https://wolfelec.co.uk/product/4-doo...onless-motors/

I'm struggling with my central locking still - I have a clicking kiekart control unit, 2 doors are not working and 1 trunk motor going crazy,

I bought a new DAC3530 slave unit for the front passenger door and it works in the boot and door OK, but I've only tested it briefly not fitted it. They're £85 and it seems like I need 2 more so that's £250.

But the control unit DAC3529 is not available anymore it seems. And mine is most likely failing judging by what I've read and the other door failures!

The MES kit is about £100 and could do all 4 doors and provide keyless entry as well so it seems like a much better option than struggling on with original equipment.

Has anyone done it successfully, and if so did it work with the boot/trunk (ie the 5th motor) ?

And how hard was it to fit and get working?

Thanks so much, Al.

okay, let me first state auto electronics is not my strong suite but i have had a xj40 fitted with remote door locks (as well as an alarm and a starter) at my trusted auto stereo shop. i had the car for a couple of years and the key fob locked and unlocked all doors and boot. it proved to be a much simpler and cost effective solution for me.

I'm sure it's doable..."anything is possible"..... but it'll be a several-hour project. Mounting the motors might be a challenge although the first would obviously be the head-scratcher, with the others being less so.

The easier alternative is to repair the factory installed system. I just have to think that you can source good used parts to keep the costs down.

Overseas shipping shouldn't be too hateful considering how small the package would be
