Battery Cut out Switch
I'm considering an '85 xj6 that has battery drain issue. There is a toggle switch in the glove box that when flipped cuts out the battery so it will not drain. Has anyone ever heard of this? I thought you had to disconnect one of the battery cables to stop it from. Again, any input is appreciated. Ren
Nope.
Heard of lots of things over many years.
A toggle switch, as we know them, would NEVER handle battery Amps, so it is obviously switch some odd item OFF. Maybe an aftermarket Amp, Stereo, etc.
Trace the wires, find the culprit and fix that item is what I would do.
Good luck.

sounds like a kill-switch to prevent the car from starting, not a battery disconnect switch. Or an alarm switch.
also check the trunk light, it could be staying ON draining the battery. You could check if it is ON removing the rear seat Back and looking thru one of the holes in the wall behind the rear seat Back.

If that toggle switch really solves the drain issue I would say some previous owner knew which circuit was causing the problem and that switch controls that single circuit. Does the car start and run with the toggle off? Any of the accessories not work when it's off? Once you learn what the switch is controlling you will probably find the cause of battery drain problem.
I'm an old dude that rarely goes out at night and I am always leaving a car door open so I just go around and remove all the bulbs from the interior, boot, etc and pop them in a zip lock bag and put it in the glove box. If I ever start going to nightclubs again (ha ha) I'll put them back in.
The clock is the only thing that should be drawing current when parked in our cars.
