Whenever I open the hood (bonnet) after a few days of driving, I notice the transmission dipstick pushed out about an inch. I do not drive "spiritedly" as this is a 50yo car, and I'm the one who has to fix it when something breaks or wears out. As I have done over the past 23 years. I know the breather tube on the right side of the transmission is clear. Anyone have any idea why the dipstick would push out?
Just a guess, but maybe it should have an O ring (or something similar) in that groove in the plastic handle; this would hold it into the tube more firmly. I suspect, assuming the breather is clear, that it is vibrating out in the absence of the O ring. Or maybe the two wider parts cast into the plastic handle are meant to jam the dipstick into the tube and have become worn and no longer do?

yes, it looks like it is missing the O ring at the top.
Just get a thick O ring for it, there is a groove where the O ring engages at the yellow plastic "head".
Good catch guys - I was looking at the BW65 parts manual and it does NOT have a O-ring on its dipstick. But indeed the BW66 does. And... I found this link when I was looking up part numbers. It's the same part number for the BW65 as the below link says. Thanks again for all your help.
