Dont forget , nor down play the NZ connection. The Kiwis rightly say they punch above their weight, alcohol consumption is in there somewhere also just quietly.

The head will be sent to a very reputable shop for them to weave their magic.

I have paid the asking price so the engine is mine!
Internet is a wonderful thing, contacting the engine builder via Facebook at 10 am Sunday and owning the engine a few hours later.

Yes, well, ummm...... Over here in New Zealand, it is legal to distill your own spirits and brew your own beer. Makes for some fun weekends. The aussies are fueled by alcohol due to the heat and the lack of water :-) Nothing cools ya down after (or before) some hard work like a cold one :-)
As mentioned, now is a great time to get that engine bay sparkling while the great lump of iron is out of the way.
A very unfortunate circumstance to have happened, and not a cheap venture either, but a completely new motor will now reside in that bay.
Is the rebuilt bottom end just done to factory specs, or was it blue printed? raised compression? lightweight pistons etc?

I'm not certain of the specs, which is fine with me. He gave the complete run down of what was done to my mechanic friend. As soon as the builder started running through the specs I put him on to Phill.
Since he thought it was a good option, I went with it.
Was the previous motor the original one untouched?
If the new motor has been built with some care and attention to detail, you will love it, a properly modern balanced motor is such a nice thing to have.
All the motors I have built, I usually aim for matched rods and pistons to within 0.5grams, and grub screwed and balanced cranks etc, so much smoother especially when working with an older mass produced motor. I find some peace within, when I blueprint a motor, rewarding experience only other true petrolheads would understand.

Phill and I took a few of hours off today to save 4 hours driving time tomorrow picking it up. 4 valuable hours we can use tomorrow.
Nice clean machinery. Definitely to be admired. It deserves a nice clean engine bay.

When my engine bay was empty after the DOHC expired, I
cleaned it a lot. Not concours, but decent. The front cross member was the grimiest. Oven cleaner did the grime in, paint and all!!!
No matter, sprayed it black along with other tin. In went the
power washed LT1. Looked great. Connections began, but in a clean environment, so much better.
It continues to purr....
Rain incoming tonite. We need it badly. It will impact my spring clean up!!!
