Default Headlight switch XJ6C

Hello,

My headlight switch is complete blocked,
cant turn in any direction, need to remove from the dashboard and try to fix.
Find good source for fog activation for XJ-S,
https://www.bernardembden.com/xjs/fogswitch/index.htm
believe the switch will be almost the same,
but can’t figure how remove the knob.
could’t understand, just pull the knob or have to find the hole , depress it, then pull?
I can’t see such hole in my knob
BR Stan

Hi Stan, it's been a while but I think there's a notch at the bottom of the plastic knob for a small tool to pry up and release?

the metal bracket has small slot at bottom, but I can’t find anything to push, I can feel the switch axis but nothing else. In other hand the knob don’t move and possible damage if try to pull it out is very probable…

the hole is in the black plastic knob, you need an icepick tool to push into the hole where there is a spring button release for the knob.

yes that is the hole and the spring button.

if hole and button are not in the XJ-C switch, then the complete assembly must have two 8mm bolts behind it.

WARNING !!
one of the bolts is very close to the ALWAYS HOT Brown wire terminal!
DISCONNECT THE BATTERY before inserting a wrench behind the switch. Shorting the wrench with the brown wire terminal can cause a chain reaction of burnt wiring.

NOTE: the photo posted with your first post Looks like a XJ-S switch. The XJ-S switch has a can attached to the rear of the switch just like in the photo.

Maybe the original switch had been replaced before ?
