Looking for performance 15" tires
I went to my local tire store this morning for tires to put on my 82 XJ6 with the Kents. I really want a directional tread design that looks like a good performance tire. Mainly just want that cool tread look. Could not find me anything in a 215/70/15. What are you guys running?

if you go to a 50 or a 60 side wall there are way more options, not to mention the lower stance looks great and the smaller tire doesnt look off on the car 225/60/15 is a nice size, hankook and bfg make tires that i know of i think that michelin might too. If you hit up summit theres a lot of options

You'll probably have to be satisfied with just the performance look as there is very little by way of true high performance tires in 15" sizes these days.
I have Falken 215/65x15 on my Series III....can't remember the exact model at the moment. Good specs, good look, H-speed rating
Sumitomo has some performance-ish choices in that size as well. I've had a couple sets of Sumitomo....no problems.
If you wanna good high end you can still get Michelen XWX in the 215/70 size...but at about $400 each. These are mostly for the older Ferrari and Aston martin crowd
Cheers

My thoughts:
1. Be realistic. I did. Will I drive well over a 100 MPH for sustained periods? Nope. So, a good set of "T" rated touring tires will be just fine.
I did. B.F. Goodrich 215 70 15's on 7" XJS sourced lattice wheels. I like 'em. Fill the wheel wells just right and no issues with the tin.
2. Check out "Tire Rack". They advertise here. Lots of useful tire stuff there.
3. Personal choice reigns in tire selection. I prefer lots of rubber and less steel or alloy. Others think otherwise. Way back when, my first car wore 30 x 3 1/2 on wood spokes and steel rims and fellows. Not far from real wagon wheels. Ugh, moved away from those quick....

I am using 215/60/15 H rated tires. These tires do lower the car a bit, but I like how they look. These were the tires I got on sale at Tire Kingdom about 10 months ago. I had bought them to roll the car around while I was doing the V8 conversion. Since they were H rated tires,I decided to use them.
