Hey,
Im wondering if there is a way to make my Series 1 Jag speedo metric? a sticker? an aftermarket display? instructions to silk screen the display myself? anything?
Thanks in advance.
Talk to Lionel Otto Instruments at Salisbury. Evans Rd.
They converted my HR ute to read Km/h back in the early 90’s.
Also done a few bike jobs for me over the years.
Don't do it. I know one member here who bought a series 1 Daimler with a converted speedo - that is the dial remains to same, so that when it is showing 60mph that really means 60kph. The conversion he has is very unreliable.
Learn to quickly convert. My speeds are 30mph for 50kmh zones, 40mph for 70, 50mph for 80, and 60 for 100. How much easier can it be?

No, the dial is different but the needle sweep stays the same. Originally if it was a 140 mph speedometer it would be a 220 km/h maximum reading in metric. Similarly, E Types were 150mph/260 km/h. It wasn't 150 mph and 150 km/h. The odometer gearing will need to be changed as well.
Jagdaim has a new one listed on ebay https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/20281744...EAAOSw~ERd-bjW
wreckers down south of Adelaide is wrecking a couple series 2 jag,s he advertises on Market Place

My calibration is out a touch so I got my GPS and drove up down a local back road a few times to confirm my speed then stuck this to the windscreen where mechanics usually put the service sticker.
Easy for anyone driving the car to know their speed at a quick glance. I never need to look at it but it’s great for the wife, son or my mates when they are driving.
Circa 52. I bought a Belgian assembled 50 Chevrolet. I was on army service in Germany. that worked just fine. In June of 52, we came back to the USA. I brought it w LMH in MPH did not bother me. Teh mental conversion was fine.
My lump's speedo is nuts. Never got the compensitory box to do the job. No matter, just watch the tach to avoid tickets.
My slick 88 Tbird had a digital dash., Stinking speedo was topo bright at night., A business card hid it nicelky Dumb thing would not read more than 85 MPH. I floored it once . Much, much faster than the 85.
Good for you Clarke. You actually let your mates drive your treasure! Ian
I let them drive it on the road or at track days, my son drove it home the day he got his learners. It is to be driven, not hidden.
To me it is my daily driver, not a classic people can’t use, I would be less inclined to lend out my 5.7 hemi Jeep.
My best mate chasing down an E Tpye, and getting in front of it.( forum member “Dr Phill”)
Me at the same track on a wet day, and my son about one minute before he had his first drive out side the transport dept the day he got his learners.( just before he scratched the rear door on the Hyundai parked in front of it)
Hi Clarke, this is completely off topic.
I notice your wipers park toward the right side of the windscreen, RHD car. I believe my shop manual shows the wipers parked to the right on my LHD car and to the left on a RHD car. I have mine installed with right hand parking and they operate as they should. Is there really
a difference?

Hi Dave,
In my opinion mine wipe the wrong way, but here is a pic if a left hand drive car parking on the left.
Seems very inconsistent on old Jags. I have seen local cars that park different to mine.
