mount tranmission xj6 1984
Is the replacement of the rubber bushing an easy matter? How is it done? The bushing in my 87 is completely perished… there's no immediate problem as far as I can tell, but I know it's on the "to do list".
Thanks!
Andrew.

Easy, yes. At least compared to many other tasks on an XJ6

In essence, support the weight of the transmission with a small floor jack, remove and disassemble the mount assembly (far too many pieces for a trans mount, gah!), replace the bushing, reassemble.
You might as well replace the rubber blocks as well. Unless your car is a rare exception they'll be soft and saggy from age and oil contamination

Dear God, the six is busier than the twelve.

I have no idea why Jaguar was oh so in love with these complicated transmission mounts. I know the goal was eliminating vibrations and noise but, hellity-damnity, that can be accomplished with far less complicated contraptions.
Ah well. Just another "interesting design feature"

Wow, I must have one in my leftovers cache!
The one in my car now is a ton simpler. Mostly, just a healthy rubber block. Top side to the tail of the trans and bottom, to the adapter plate.
Simple and works just fine.
