Umhum ... I grafted one of these from a TR-6 into the rear panel of a Firebird
with the plan of doing the plumbing later.

Then one day, someone very kindly filled my "tank" through the filler
and wondered why the fillup took so much gas. The trunk in a F-body
car can take a *lot* of gas.

It would be easier to do on the X308 since the plumbing is already
there. Flipping cap is long gone though. And TR-6 parts aren't
exactly cheap these days.

Come to think of it, I like the cleaner lines of the rear of the S1 as well. No plinth on the boot for the rego plate light.
But I might be a bit biased.

Default What defines the xj6

Hi Tony,

My answer to you sub question of what defines the xj6 is that for me, no matter which angle you look at, or indeed from, these cars, there is no bad angle.

From an aesthetic point of view everything flows, nothing looks out of place, nothing is missing and honestly there is nothing I look at on mine thinking..if only they had...

Apart from fuel consumption and some of the wiring, but that is looking at something else

Cheers,

Nigel

This whole thread has inspired me to awaken Nix prematurely for a mid-Winter run during this Brief spell of clear weather! We are given 3 glorious days with not a cloud in the sky.

I spent the morning cleaning off a month's worth of shop kooties and left over bug carcasses from the last run, and shining her up as befits a car of her status. She's ready to prowl tonight, and tomorrow for the shopping foray.

She may be a bit groggy at first, but as soon as she gets a whiff of that cold, dense, winter air, it will all come back to her and we'll be off and running, passing everything in sight, for at least one more run.

(sigh)

Besides that, I need to keep her in the public consciousness.

Way to go Elinor, enjoy every minute and make the general populous drool!!

My old girl doesn't know about hibernation, although I am always choosy about weather conditions (i.e. I don't do rain either!).

Mate, we're all a bit biased towards our own! All the Series XJ's are interesting, enough to generate this much passion and conversation. Can you imagine that happening around the Camry?!

I hear you. Not sure what year the Camry across the road is but it's been there the 18 years we have lived here and it just ticked over 30k km. I've almost covered that in 2 years. (16300 miles/26250 km)

Camry's !!!

Gotta say, they have their place in the world! The folks across the way have two sedans. Far from new, but, they just keep going. Still
reasonably decent in appearance. But, plus a Toyota minivan and a big Chev 9 passenger van. Seven kids, so need a lot of seats!!!

My daughter's gal pal has a 94 or so wagon looks like, ugh, but keeps on chugging.

No rain around, yet. It is promised. but, brrr, t's cold outside.

Jaguar warm and comfortable n the garage. Errands yet to be done.
Jag or Jeep not yet determined....

Jaguar needs dusting off.....

Tony, I couldn't agree more with your first post in this thread. There are loads of little things that no matter how annoying the niggling little things get, which I've got plenty at the moment !, EVERY time I look at my car from pretty much any angle, I think they're just bloody brilliant and they give you such a feel good feeling !

I agree Carl, they do have their place. Actually I have great respect for functional and totally reliable daily-use appliances. I put my Golf into that category, it is excellent for purpose. However most appliances just blend into the background being totally devoid of style, and IMHO Camry is the blandest of all - not even interesting enough to be ugly. None of them is capable of stirring emotions or evoking conversation around their attributes like our XJ's do!

Filler caps are one example: XJ art piece vs. VW plastic flap - no contest!

I will say one thing about my jag and its that out of the three cars I own (jag '76 alfa spider and a '03 chevy S10) the jag is the only one where I've been content with the way it is. I've never felt like I needed to change anything about the way it preforms/looks. That means a lot coming from me because I'm normally the type of person who needs to stand out and be different from everyone else.

he's pulling about the same times as that nice silver, super lumped XJ in another thread. But of course doing it so inelegantly :-) Thats the trouble with drag strip timers, they just don't care what you look like and award no discounts for style.
