Default Now the ac!!!!!

I cant win!!!! Picked up car from trans shop this morning, got half way home and compressor locked, pulley locked too!! Bye bye belt!! Had to limp home with no alternator or power steering... not fun!!! I knew compressor was failing as it was noisy when in use, so i didnt use it! , apparently it didnt care! Lol i have a new one ready to go, but now i am going to have to flush everything as well! Anyways.. the drive home( before belt broke) (with 4th gear or overdrive, whatever you want to call it ) was fantastic. 50mph at just over a 1000 rpms...

Will replace compressor this evening and throw a belt on it, just to drive some more, wont hook up hoses or electrical just yet. Need to buy flush!!
then i can give her a bath, been sitting outside trans shop for month.. shes not the cleanest..

At least you had sort of Planned for this happening.
On my car it would be a complete Disaster as I have one of those Ancient compressors half as long as the engine block and about as plentiful as hen's teeth.

Darren:
It is fun!!! Sith no power to th
e compressor, the clutch will not engage and it might not spin. Or if lcked, as yors is, not lock the belt. or ??? Mine id in my 85 150. I cut the belt and lost nothig. but cool, and it was a hot day!!1

Another Harrison or a better unit?
Elinor:

Did not know that big old Harrison was that rare??

A few years a go, a guy was looking for a York. I had one. now, that is rare...

Retro Air sells a revised / upgraded Harrison compressor for the XJ-6 . They even have a chromed version if you want to spend the money. Supposedly more efficient than the original Harrison.

Thanks Darren, that's what the old 215-70's are that came on my car. Have you calibrated your speedo/tach? Online calculator shows with 2.88 gears, .70 overdrive, 26" tires, at 50mph the rpm should be right at 1300rpm.

Dave, i just sent my tire size and rear ratio to tuner and left it to him, havent checked anything yet, nor have i checked to see if speedo reads same as vss output. I can fine tune the speedo with the Dakota digital sgi 5e its currently just set at 2 for the multiplier, which i should think would be close as pcm puts out 4000ppm and speedo needs 8000, or vice versa, cant remember right now...

Side question. In the photo it looks like the needle on the volt meter is curved. Is it really that way or just a photo anomaly? If curved I wonder how it got that way. Sorry to go off topic. Air conditioning is good.

The needle of my voltmeter in addition to being lazy to wake up, also has a kink in it, albeit not as much as this one in the photo.

Strangely, the needle on my car’s voltmeter is also bent like the one in your photo!

I'm intrigued by this.
I just looked at Nix's needle from all possible perspectives, and it's Straight.
Of course, she Is a Series 2.
