Default Paint code confusion needs clearing up before the cars get painted

Hey everybody

Newbie out of Copenhagen , Denmark here.
I've spent the last days trolling through every single site online i can find including this very good Forum here ( thank god for Forums)
in search of paint codes and i need verification on a few things ..

First up the car in question is a project i'm about to purchase and its a very nice one.
1977 , looks to be a series 2 , XJC 4.2 With SU carbs , upgraded to electronic Dist, Km. 60xxx+ kms with serviced engine 20000kms ago,
Alloy Jag wheels and a Bisquit leather interior.
The panel works has been done, the seats are at the upholstery shop and "all" it needs is a full paint job ( we'll get back to this in a second)
and then being assembled again

Now to the big issue … I have searched the cars A pilars for a tag but it apears its been resprayed .. The only paint code there is a " Opel 168 B " which reads to a
Metro Blue Metallic .. Nice but not my favorite color for a black vinyl roof and Bisquit leather.

so here goes my questions ..
Can anyone tell me if there is a VIN plate incl paint code from the factory i've missed? Maybe with an example of a paint code ?

Now for my paint / Color questions :

I'll most likely want to change color to either Squadron Blue, a Fern Green or maybe maybe a Glazier White ..

1. I've seen the Fern Green ( as in the car from Wheeler Dealers ) and this is my first choice. BUT ..
I can see the color in Adds etc but no where on a paint list or chart whatsoever ?? Only for Fern GREY ?? Can anyone tell me if both exists and the difference in codes?
I did manage to find a code called Fern Green ( Ditzler ) 43059
Fern GREY ? : ( JA047 / 7431 - Glasurit JAG-7431A Or Dupont HDH/253 Maybe someone can post two pictures to highlight the difference ?

2. Squaron Blue is like the holy grail of colors ?? Only code i've been able to find is a BRG code : BLVC 265 / 45357 ?

3. Glazier White : called NDP ??

4. Can someone help me to switch the "correct" code into a RAL colorscheme or Spies/Hecker code as that's what my painter has.

When i have codes ill get him to shoot all three as examples as to get the correct one seeing its a big car to get wrong :lol

Looking forward to hearing what you've got , and my apologies for starting yet another topic on paint. I know its a bit of a hornets nest. :lol

Best wishes ,

Peter

I have a note of Jaguar Code JDJ/265 for Squadron Blue but do check this. British Racing Green is a minefield as there have been so many variations described as BRG over the years.

Jaguar Heritage Trust will verify a paint code but they charge for this:
https://www.jaguarheritage.com/archi...s/paint-codes/

I recall my XJ's had a rivetted plate with the paint code somewhere near the fuel pumps but it's been a long time and I could be mistaken.

Welcome to the site. In this picture of my S3, the trim/color plate is on top of the right wing above the shock mount.

Default PCB73's hijacked post

Hi Jagman1975,

Apart from the fact that you hijacked pcb73's post

Are you referring to the engine breather pipe on the upper front of the engine?

If so, C44386.

Pics and a separate post would be ideal.

Regards,

Nigel

Default BRG Paint

I know there is not set formula for British Racing Green, a British thing I guess.. But given this is an XJ Series I, II, III forum, I can't imagine there isn't a guide on here for those vehicles so we each wouldn't have to pay Ł30 plus VAT each time someone has a question. .Mine is a 77 XJ6C Built 10/76 BRG & Biscuit..

I'm quite sure

Found this in another area of the forum and may help as far as code location.

Hi all,
I know this topic has been done to death but I am having trouble IDing my paint colour.
I have found the dog tag on the LH rear of the car under the rear bumper.
It has the following code

E 050151

I cant seem to find a reference to this number anywhere. This is an Australian delivered car if that makes any difference.
Thanks again

That is the body number, put on by Pressed Steel Fisher when they made the body, before it was supplied to Jaguar build.

Hi all .. !
Thanks for answers from all.
I kinda died on this thred as when it came time to arrange final deal, transport and getting the project on the road ..
two things happened .. first . " Corona " .. down sick as a dog for two weeks Nov '20.
Then when i called the seller he had decided to resind the deal and " build the car himself" ..
Long story short decided it was just not to be and didnt bother even get upset ..
SO this tread ends here. !!

But .. !!! The stuff you shared comes back to help once again as ive just picked up a 76´XJC in Germany ..
Good thing is its a pretty rustfree California car. .. but do keep an eye out for the new tread coming soon.
More good help is needed on bumper conversion etc ..

Thanks ,
Peter

Here’s “Fern Grey”, can’t recall the code because I got it in acrylic enamel single stage and it was from a small local shop. But I’ve bought several types of touch up paint in “Fern Grey” and they have all been the “same” color (small variations expected from car paint).
