Default Rack removal question

Planning to remove my 86 SIII rack soon and I know I have to disconnect lines, tie rod ball joints and there are three
mount /bushing points to unbolt. But as far as disconnecting from the steering column, I am guessing this
pinch joint inside the red box below is the last thing I need to undo.

Can someone verify that? I hope at that point the rack just drops out

Thanks - Randy

the pinch bolt at the steering column shaft is the first one you should do, and to split apart the pinch bolt tabs second. The hoses third. the tie rods fourth. then the two bracket bolts fifth, holding the rack with one hand as you remove the second bracket's bolt.

You don't want the rack hanging its weight from the steering column shaft.

Randy, yes. that is the pinch bolt. And you might need to spread the - what do you call them - "legs" of the bracket after removing the bolt, to release the shaft.

same thing as spreading a battery connector so it will fit over the pole or to remove it.
