Yes, at least I would imagine so from what the owners manual says. Just in case I am doing something wrong, the process is the pure silver key with the Leyland logo on it goes in the lock in either direction and turns clockwise then the boot opens from the latch. The boot isn't unlocking from the drivers door either so I'm inquiring the cost of a full lock set from someone breaking a Jag so that even if the central locking isn't working properly I can still use a key to get in.
unlocking the doors via rhe driver's door does not unlock the trunk lock, you can only lock the trunk lick when locking the driver's door.
Ah, I was under the impression that when you unlocked the drivers door it unlocked the boot but if you then locked the car and unlocked it from the inside the boot wouldn't open.
no, the trunk/boot lock can only be unlocked manually, but it can be remotely locked, (only locked) , from the driver's door.
So you might try removing the license plate, and through one of the oblong holes on the right side, grab the connecting Rod and pull it UP to try opening the boot lid. Thin needle nose pliers work best.

Ah I'll give that a whirl tonight if I get a chance. Thanks!
what year is the car? some early XJ came with 3 keys, one exclusively for the boot lock.
My 1984 has two keys, one exclusively for the ignition switch, (the one with the black plastic cover), and one for the glove box, doors, and boot.
I've only just bought the car, it only came with two keys, the ignition key and the dome headed key.
The owners manual says three keys:
Ignition Key
Dome headed key - opens everything (boot, doors and glove box)
Dimple headed key - only opens doors (valet key)

you are just giving it a qtr turn anticlockwise and then operating the lever arent you?
just asking as its a new car to you and the boot arrangements and the lock operation arent like other cars

Quite embarrassed really, bit of WD40 and it freed it up really quickly. Before spraying the WD40 in the barrel it wouldn't budge a fraction so I thought it was buggered. Just bought some WD40 Lithium Grease for the hinges on the boot (and door handles) as it's pretty stiff to open and close.
Hum, that renders my dimple key useless. Neither door lock works!! diver door locxk merely spins with no results. Passenger door lock will not even turn. Same result, none!
Original ignition key, a replaced one, obsolete. lock replaced with NOs unit via David Boger. works so nice..
But, yeah the hump key works the gas caps and boot perfectly!!!
And, although have not driven for a spell, the Jaguar fires each ands every time. Battery go down after a few days issue gone.. I credit the added ground cable. why< not sure, but it worked!!

I need to investigate mine a bit more, was reading up yesterday about the cold start injector as mine cranks for quite some time before firing up but is fine after it has warmed up. Ordered some new HT leads too as I'm pretty sure the ones on mine are original and if they're anything like me they're passed their best by date by now.
