Those generators fill with oil.

Sometimes a good clean out with a p/pack solvent (I use Carby Cleaner), and they can be revived.

I have had limited succes with that process. Point is, it can do NO harm, it appears broken already.

It is a Jag unit, and for some bizzare reason the part # for Trip Computer, and NO Trip Computer generators are different. I reckon you could find one on ?bay.

Forgot, I do that.

The Yellow wire is the signal wire TO the speedo and other items, and there is a splice near the LH lower air vent at the side of the console. This splice has been an issue with a few I have dealt with.

The Brown wire is an volt Signal wire from the Ign circuit I THINK??. Check that wire for voltage with the Ign ON, maybe there is no supply volts??.

Thanks all, yes the pulses per mile or per revolution can differ, Jags use a 2-pulse-per-revolution item if I have read correctly. Ah, so I've got to supply power first? Might be worth a shot, thanks Carl.

As for the Carby cleaner, I'll give that a shot too, thanks Grant, and yes lots on ebay, but there's the usual waiting period... I'll ultimately order one, but I'm gonna try for one in the mean time.

Oops, spoke too soon... Intermittent, worked on the way to work and was dead on the way back... Sign if failure coming up? I'll give it another clean first...

They were lose, so I crimped both, still didn't work, blast, off to Jaguar I go, half way there and it starts to work... To order or not to order... I decided to cancel the order, it can wait, got other things to pay for, and every last item involves my beloved car, HA!
