Window Problems
Hi Everyone,
The passenger's side and the rear passenger's side windows on my 1985 XJ6 don't work. I bought new switches, but that didn't work. Both front and rear window switches don't work. I couldn't find any fuses related to the windows. I'm assuming there must be relays instead. Does anyone have any advice on what I should do?
Thanks!

A relay (extreme right side of dash, to the right of glove box) feeds power to two circuit breakers.....one breaker for left windows, the other for the right windows. If *any* of the windows are working the relay must be OK.
The circuit breakers are below the glove box (from memory here). You can check for voltage in/out with a test light. Or swap the breakers and see if the problem changes sides. Or use a jumper wire to bypass a suspect breaker and see if the problem goes away.
The breakers are about .75" square with red/slate wires
Cheers

I am vaguely aware of that, yes
and I have dropped the headliner but the motor and all other parts are encased in some kind of box.
What year and model do you have, and was it originally built with a sunroof?
Series III sedans with an original sunroof used a cable drive system where the cables ran down the C-pillars to the motor....which is mounted on the bulkhead behind the rear seat.
Edit:
If you have a Series III sedan and the sunroof motor is in the ceiling, it's an add-on sunroof

I have had the backseat and c pillars out and I didnt see anything like that, then again though that wasn't what i was looking for when I had them out. But when i pulled the headliner there was a black box mounted to the ceiling and the sunroof slid inside of that, and I didnt see any cables running out of it.
It's a 1986 SIII XJ6
