Default XJ6 Aftermarket Steering Wheel?

1991 XJ6 Sovereign
Pre airbag
how do I figure out if a aftermarket wheel will fit onto my column?
I dislike the old school bus style wheel and want to swap it with a smaller wood trimmed wheel.
any ideas ?
thanks!!

it is simple, you buy the steering wheel with the hub adapter kit for your model year car from the same seller. If they want to sell you the steering wheel but they don't offer the hub adapter kit, don't buy it, go elsewhere.

check companies like Motolita, Nardi

if in the US, contact LeCarra in Tennessee.

do not tell them "Sovereign", just say 1991 XJ-40. Your car is a XJ-40, not a XJ-6.

Do not buy one with the metal rivets on the rim, they get so hot sitting in the sun you cannot drive.
I have a Grant brand wheel and they sell the needed adapters...

yes all Jaguar Sedans / Saloons are badged "XJ-6 or XJ-12" since 1968, but when you are purchasing parts, models and body styles need to be differentiated by their Series,

Since 1968, there is Series 1 XJ-6, Series 2 XJ-6, Series 3 XJ-6, XJ40 XJ-6, X300 XJ-6, X308 XJ-6, X350 XJ-6, etc., etc.

In Europe, the XJ40 body style, the one you have, started being sold in 1986, in the US, it started to be sold in 1988.

Crowder is the official North American distributor for Nardi. Give them a call (843.261.9553) and they can get you the adapter that will fit over the spline on the tip of your steering column. This adapter will then allow you to install most modern steering wheels (Nardi, MOMO, Grant, etc). This is the company that I used to get rid of the bus wheel. Hope this helps.
