I will need your trunk measurements to select correct strut length.
Look at post #57 for how to measure: Hold truck lid full open and measure height of existing hole in hinge arm.
Kit will have two struts, all mounting hardware and detailed instructions.

I will need the height of the 5/16" hole center above the the trunk side shelf ... 10-1/2" , 11-1/4" or 11-3/4". Also, if you lift the Lid to the stops ~31" and let go what does it fall to and hold? 26-28" seems to be range of hinges with worn pin holes ( trunk lid to sill). With this Info, I can select correct struts for your XJ6

PM me the dimension and I will provide all information you will need.
Thanks
David
David - thanks for the fast reply. I checked your post #57.

The normal measurements for my trunk lid without extra support are 10-7/8 inches hole to shelf and 32 inches trunk lip to sill, which seems to be where it should normally be, except once in a while it won't hold there and drifts shut. If I haul it up against the stops the measurements become 12 and 37-1/2 inches.

Thanks

Dear isgrant,

The Trunk spring assist kit is $48.00 including shipping. (two struts and all hardware), installation requires only four ( 3/32”) pilot holes on truck shelf below hinge arm, with bracket being installed on top of carpet. some have put bracket under carpet, but this is more time consuming.

You may want to look at the “New and improved bonnet hold open stay.” kit
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...t-stay-218200/
particularly see posts #27, #28, #48
The kit price for the XJ6 S1- S3 is $54.00 including shipping.
If you are interested I can ship one, or both kits Monday.
Both kits together would be $96.00 including shipping.

Over 25 jaguars now have the improved bonnet opening stay. (50% more opening than OEM linkage)
Please ask any questions you may have. The kit will come with installation instructions, and a drawing showing all the parts.
15 minutes to remove old stay and 15 minutes to install new stay.
Rgds

David

I also have installed David's front bonnet extra open kit. And I fully endorse it also. Again, thank you David!

I found the old files and was able to get new quote from the machine shop, if we could get 4 firm orders; about 10 day est. for production, it is a small order and they fit it in between larger production runs.

Improved Boot Lid Hinge kit cost (without spring assist kit would be): Domestic US $195 and $225 international (includes shipping)
I have notice in past, some experiencing heavy custom duties in UK. This you would have to check out.
Chat up your fellow XJ6 owners at the next car show, and see if we can get sufficient interest.
Thank you for your interest ...

And thank you Bill for your encouragement and excellent installation commentary, as it added much to the final effort.
Rgds

Thank you again DAVID!
I'll second that!!
Virtually Every time I need to get into my trunk I'm thanking David's ingenuity for this feature and so grateful I got one in the beginning!
There's no other easy way to get 12-packs for example, parked on that rear axel deck than from the side with this Wonderful Extended Opening kit.
2 thumbs up for sure!!
