Default 1985 XJS Power Mirror Switches

Do you suppose this is why my mirror switches weren't working? This was the worst of the two...

Cleaned and polished all contacts, reassembled, and lo and behold, fully functional mirrors.

Replaced the pins with screws in case I ever need to get back in there...

Next up, horn, wipers, and fogs.

Great fix.

Good luck with the horn. There a pin down the column with a spring and plastic collar mine was toast and I replaced it with a wire down the column.

I had a couple faults in mine. One motor was bad in my passenger mirror and then both switches were gummed as shown. I started at the fuse block and traced power from there to the switches. Power at the switches, but nothing at the mirrors. Fixed the switches. Power at the mirrors, but only in and outboard movements on the passenger side. Replaced the mirror with a donor from eBay and now both mirrors function normally. (I have extra mirror glass and housings if anyone needs them).

I followed the switch rebuild guide on Jag-Lovers, but did not have to fab the power ring as mine was not corroded (just gummed up with old grease and such). The pins and springs on the toggle side of things are tiny and may well fall out when separating the switch housing, so plan accordingly. Mine were cemented in place with gunk. Take your time and clean everything up bright and shiny.

Should be good to go after that.
