I was replacing the ski slope and figured I might as well clean the window switches while I had access. After cleaning both window switches, the windows are no longer working (formally both were working). I dug around the forum and it sounds like it's either the window circuit breaker or the window relay.
I open the fusebox under the passenger side glovebox and took this picture. Can some one let me know which item is the circuit breaker (yellow cube?) and which one is the relay?
Thank you very much Doug! I was not able to find the circuit breaker or relay through the fuse box so it looks like I am going to have to drop the compartment for better access.
No problem Mike. I replaced the window switches and it solved the issue! I must have missed something up when I took them apart to clean!
Best of luck!
I thought for sure I'd be looking for a fuse or something under the dash. Mesmerizing....Will be taking them out and cleaning them to see if they work again before purchasing new ones. A LOT TO LEARN. Hoping to find an XJS mentor here in the Carolins thats willing to pass along knowledge. Thanks again. MB

I've been driving these oldies Jags since the late 90s....and I'm still learning new things
One of the great things about owning one of these cars is that the internet support, via forums such as this, is among the best you'll find in the hobby car world. Lots of accumulated knowledge, freely shared.
You are a Jag vet Doug....look at all those posts..amazing........I've just sent the last kid off to their own place, so I was sort of ready for my Jag. A special one popped up in my area that I knew I'd better snag before someone else did. 5 spd V12 converted when new in '87 in Indiana by Lister North America. And a bunch of other enhancements. Mostly it's a stock XJ-SC but I'm very much looking forward to seeing what a 5 spd v12 feels like on the road.
Most front window problems lie with sticky switches rather than anything else. I'd suggest that you lift the ski-slope to remove the window switches rather than try and do it from above. Otherwise you'll end up breaking the tangs on the window switch bezel which is NLA. Be very careful with the bezel and the switches. And DON'T take the switch apart unless you've got it fully covered with a cloth! Bits will go everywhere!
Good luck
Paul
