Default 1989 coupe A pillar water course

Guys just to check that this is right.

I pulled the chrome trim off today as I'm chasing a water leak through the windscreen area. I am going to run some windscreen sealer under the rubber seal. While at it I though I'd better check how the water from the A Pillar exits. The following photos detail the course of the water from the A pillar - just want affirmation that this indeed the correct way water from the A pillar exits the car.

where exactly is the water coming in ? over your feet or along side the door ?

Thanks, the cars in very very good nick. Driving in rain water is coming in at the top of the corners of the screen. And in at the a pillar ahout half way down on the drivers side. Had to drive through pouring rain and the carpets were soaked. Have been going through all possible leak causes, could excuse to spend time in the shed with her

don't forget that water can come over the chrome trim and in through the door seal half way down the a-pillar, this usually comes in where the joint is for the doors quaterlight frame , the seal gets weak at this point, can be packed out with some tubed gently pushed inside ,

the top of the screen sounds like it needs some screen sealant , a replacement or refitted screen i presume ?

Nah, thats the auxiliary water path. the main egress is the low point of the floor pan, in the center of the rusted out spot

Ive read that the plastic finisher above and below the chrome trim are often the cause for leaks - well, thats on the XJ saloon, I assume xjs is similar. It needs to be pulled and reseated for shrinkage, with sealant underneath. Everybody that has posted about this has also stated that its a pita to get the chrome strip back on, so lets us know if you figure out an easy way

Well put screen rtv between glass and rubber, did find when cleaning under the the rubber after trim removal that the original sealer had gone flaky. Cleaned it out by following a plastic scraper with the air compressor then resealed it. The rubber at the top corners had shrunk away from the the bodywork a bit so i injected some rtv in there as well. The chrome trim went back on without a hassle, just did it methodically and carefully. Will water test when cured.
