I respectfully disagree, Warren. At 80 to 85 C water will disappear very fast from hot oil. Remember that even ice has some evaporation from it as water vapour.

You are probably right about picking up exhaust heat, so I will check it again just as soon as I get the Brake Problem sorted out
Just off to pick up a New Black Ball from our Kit Car friends as we speak!
Also they will be removing the Brake Booster System from one of their XJS's that they will be dismantling very soon, which I have already got my name down for!

Ok now I’m stressed about my oil temp too! Haha ok not sure if I’ve fixed the issue but I decided to blast the alternator with compressed air as it was covered in s**t and looked bunged up, I’ve left her about a week as not had time to look, fired her up today and she is pumping out 14.3V to the battery!! So fingers crossed that may have cured her or at least delayed the inevitable!!
