Default 1993 XJS convertible 4.0 Fuel filter

My manual says it's behind the spare tire and it's not there unless it's behind the large metal plate. I found the fuel pump, but I want to change to fuel filter.

"96 XJS 4.0 convertible Fuel Filter Location" It'll be nice when I know how to use this forum. I saw this "Related Topics" at the bottom of the page right after I posted my question. My filter happens to be at the same place. It sure is huge. Now to try and find one.

If you have a '93, it is located under the car by the frame rail on driver side forward of the trunk

Ok, when I went out and looked at my front driver wheel well, I saw a large round plastic canister so I thought that was it. Then it occurred to me that it had wiring hooked up to it and what appears to be some sort of diaphragm. I need to find out what that is and go back out to the garage and look for the fuel filter. So, you are saying it's under the car on the drivers side in front of the truck?

The fuel filter location changed at VIN 188104. This is what Jaguar referred to as 1993.5 MY but I'm not sure if teh US used that designation.

After 188104, the fuel filter is behind the plastic cover at the rear of the left hand front wheelwell.
Before 188104, it's under the car at the rear as mentioned.

Hope that helps

Paul

When I looked up the genuine fuel filter, I found 3 different part numbers. What is the difference?

I assume you mean on Jaguar's parts website?

They are all just supersession numbers. So the most recent one is the only one available.C2C35417. It's also used in XJ saloons all the way up to the end of x350 production in 2009.

Ok, got it. I see there are quite a few parts that are discontinued, so I guess you take your chances when ordering aftermarket parts. If they fit and work, I will probably order a few more just to be safe.

I bought mine through Rock Auto. Fun fact, my xjs and xk8 use the exact same fuel filter!
