Default 1995 or 1996 xjs

Looking to buy xjs, cause I now live in Florida and the VDP would be better with no top. Any good, bad or ugly diff. in these last 2 years. The under hood wiring looks much neater in the '96s I looked at so far. Thanks Ed

Either year but buy the nicest one that you can afford... Condition is what it is all about.

I believe the only differences between the two are:

1. Seats have a Jaguar embossed in the leather at the two front seat headrests.
2. Steering wheel is half wood.

That's it. If you were to buy a 95 and replace the two front seats and steering wheel, no one would be ablE to tell it wasn't a 96.

I don't believe there is any difference in the wiring at all.

Don't know about US cars, but in the UK typical differences on a 96 are:

- Embossed headrests
- Wood & Leather Steering Wheel
- Wooden gearknob
- Piping on front and rear seats
- delete "wood" trim around main instruments
- Vinyl cover around handbrake mechanism + different handle
- Black centre grille
- Different camshaft timing
- Revised Teves brake system
- Vented rear brake discs
- Aerosport or optional chrome 5-spoke wheels
- Coachlines

General reliability? Both years are exactly the same.

The reason I went with the '95 over the '96 was the stock wheel package. Since this can be changed not a deal breaker but I personally do no care for the stock aero wheel on the '96 as to me it does not make the car look as sporty.

Again this is just a personal thing and can be easily changed. It is not un common to see the '96 with the optional chrome 5 spoke wheel. Does seem I have read over the last 3-4 years that the idle can go up on the '96 and stay at 1300 rpm's so not sure if something was changed on the '96 that could cause this.

Like stated before condition is everything so take your time, get to know what to look for on these and buy the best one you can. What an awesome car and I loved my first one so much I bought a second one so that way I do not worry about something happening to my baby.

Same as Luvmyxjs it's a personal thing. I went with the '96 because of the 16" wheels.
