I would, yes.

If 'Stage 1' is the more mild/less wild choice, that's what I'd go for

Cheers

A stage 1 kit will be quite mild. Typically they just firm up shifts a little and encourage earlier downshifts. An enthusiastic driver would consider a stage 1 shift kit how an automatic transmission should be.
I've fitted a few to various cars over the years and always been happy.

This is what I installed in JagZilla when she still had the Turbo400 in her.

I had firm shifts when I wanted them, and soft shifts when I was just cruising. I was also able to upshift and downshift at will, and hold 1st & 2nd gear past redline.

That's whats in mine now along with the B&M adjustable vacuum modulator and my kickdown set to "kick down" at 3/4 throttle vice WOT. Makes the car w-a-y more fun to drive then the stock setup.

I'm having a hard time finding the shift kit I want.

Why you ask?

Because I want the shifts to be softer, not harder. I want the shifts to be completely unnoticeable. I don't want to feel the transmission shifting at all, just smooth acceleration.

Does such a kit exist?

Mark

yes

its called an original Jaguar spec GM400 box

if yours is shifting and your noticing it, then it probably wants a strip and rebuild replacing all bushings and any other worn parts, and all 7 ( yes 7 ) flow ball bearings need to be installed , i have reduced mine to 4 bearings, from memory a minimum of two are required for the box to still work , i also installed the adjustable vacuum , it now hangs on for higher revs for longer ,

in the UK a full strip and refurb at a gearbox socialist will cost £2k , they will also warrantee the box for that

i rebuilt my own ( see thread ) for under £500.....
