93 XJS Conv security system DEAD
A week ago, a new battery went stone-cold dead overnight. After fully charging it, the next morning I started the car with no issues. The "alt" gauge needle stayed at the same point as always, 11amps, on the test drive and later drives. Well, as it happens, 2 days later the battery stone dead overnight again!
After charging again, I noticed the RED indicator for the security system on the steering column wasn't blinking, and the usual need to re-set with the alarm fob rendered nothing.
Question... can the alarm system draw enough amps to drain the battery if it has developed a short.
(As a side-note, in 20yrs I have never used the alarm system except when re=connecting the battery to wipe a code that appeared on the radio to re-set the code and the alarm (several times over the years.)
