Default 94 Jaguar XJS Shift Solenoid

Hello Forum, I have a 1994 Jaguar XJS. It struggles often to get out of park into a gear due to the shift solenoid. Does anyone know where I can get this? I have struggled to find thus far.

This year I'm getting on the road at last after a few years.

Thanks

Karl

Karl,

You could just buy a new one from Jaguar - LNA5850AA

I recently had my entire transmission valve body replaced on my 96 XJS.

You should know that there’s no guarantee that it’s the solenoid. My solenoid tested just fine, but installed on the car, I was getting a transmission code indicating a solenoid was bad. There are a lot of small bits and gaskets that can simulate a bad solenoid.

What transmission do you have? Apparently Jaguar used the ZF 4HP24 across several models. Any of them will work. I believe, but have not confirmed that the earlier ZF 4HP22 also uses the same transmission valve body.

The shop put in a valve body from a 97 XJ6 and everything is great now!
