Default ABS Accumulators that fit XJS

So one of the things on my list here is the brake light coming on and abs pump running more than it should. I assume the car needs the accumulator replaces as its likely the original part.
looking around and these things are getting pricey. Seems they are not easy to find so the prices are jacked up.

Question is possibly other part numbers work ?
I know people. Have used a GM part but those seem to be NLA

it looks to me like the Rover P38 part May fit but it’s difficult to get the dimensions.

Hi Wrightbenz

Here is another one that may or may not fit that looks as though it has a larger capacity

Wabco 2784 Accumulator

No specifications in that eBay listing. Did you find information on this that makes you feel it will work ?

Yes I thought this one may fit as well. Like I said hard to fit dimension specs for these but I believe this one is larger than the jag part and there isn’t much room. The body support bar runs right next to our accumulator.

I just replaced mine with this Bosch part:

Amazon Amazon

Threads are perfect, works great. It's slightly smaller than the AC/Delco original, which I think is better because it doesn't come so close to the cross brace.

Thanks Robbo D you saved me a lot of time and effort in this.
someone should sticky this as the old accumulators are becoming $$$ and hard to find.

Oh by the way I was confused for a minute that your pics have the abs pump on the opposite side of the car. Then I realized you are on the opposite side of the pond lol. Right hand drive 👍

Hi wrightbenz

One of our Forum Members bought a Wabco 2784

Which is a similar price to the Bosch

But is a little bit wider than the OEM which means it may foul on the Sway Bar but as yet we don't know for sure

My only doubt about buying the Bosch is would its smaller capacity have any effect on maintaining the pressure for braking

I wasn't worried about that when I realized the Bosch accumulator was sufficient for a 3 ton Maybach as well as numerous Mercedes models.

Cheers

Ill say it for the 4th time the Bosch one I posted, its now been 4 months in 3 cars and works like a charm. no issues at all with it being a tiny bit smaller.
For it being the price that it is, it should just be a given and not waste time on the other ones. 100% brakes back to OEM

Hi all.
just to let you know. With the new Bosch accumulator fitted it takes around 20 seconds to pressurise from empty when the ignition is turned on and I get around 7 brake applications before the pump cuts in and tops up the pressure in the accumulator. Hopes this helps with any decision making.
Rob.

What is normal before pump kicks on in OEM vs the smaller bosch?

This I don’t know. It does seem on par with accumulator I swapped out on my Range Rover P38 last year. Around 20 seconds to get up to pressure and around 7 brake applications before the pump would cut in and top up the system again.
