Default Caution: Bragging! - My 'New' 1975 Jaguar XJS Arrived

I had to check in every place I could find the VIN number (build plate in the engine compartment, inner fender stamp, windshield tag, door sticker) to believe I actually got the real deal. A rolling 1975 Jaguar XJS for $750*. No visible rust, original Kent wheels, no evidence of any modifications. The interior is trash, but that can be fixed.

For now I am just happy to have it and will put it in the back of my garage.

(* Plus $1154.82 for shipping from Portland, OR. Does not include spouse happiness costs. :-))

She's a beauty! Love those early models! So trim and lithe!

Does she run or or at least turn over?

The engine turns over easier than the wheels. :-) I had to pull her into my driveway with my Saturn. Saturday I will put rollerskates underneath.

There is a similar 1976 Jaguar XJS for sale on Craigslist in Denver. Right hand drive and sunroof. VIN 1844 according to the owner. Not a bad deal for $1250. I am sure the seller would take $1000 cash.

Great deal,

I believe the 1st and last of the XJS's will be the most collectible, already seeing prices here in Oz going north. A late facelift XJR-s sold here in Perth for over $80K.

I would add the XJ-SC Cabriolet to the list of future collectibles.

I think less so. More the full converts as people would see the XJ-SC as an oddity and oddities don't fetch high figures. Kind of like a H&E conversion will be worth less than the normal convertible, even though it looks better in my opinion.

I hope you are right about the XJ-SC. I sold mine because there was no space for my kids. If they are still affordable when my kids are grown I will buy one again. Its the only Jaguar that allows you to have the roof down while sitting in the shade.

Agreed on XJ-SC... unwanted ugly stepchild. It’s the 2+2 E-Type of the XJS world.

I just recceived my Jaguar Heritage Certificate and almost peed my pants. Made on October 1st 1975. Holy ****! That is less than a month after they started selling the XJS on September 10th 1975.

This one definitely stays original, in 2037 when I get to it. The paint is oxidized but might be salvageable. I have the identical car as a 1976 (just painted over in red) so I can slowly learn how to work on these boogers.
