Cherry Blossom - Restoration 1990 XJS V12
congratulations on the MOT!!!!
and as for Blossom
I loosen my electric fan once and the ends of the blades had no clearance and the noise it made was ULGY (and it took a bit of the ends off each and every BLADE)
so go make sure everything is clear up there... you may find something simple...

There is nothing up with the Fan, as I positioned it Carefully and Spun it by hand before I Started her up (before the disaster)
As for the MOT She went and Sailed it.
Oh, and Congrats to the new MOT! Boy am I happy, that we have a very strict "MOT" (HU aka TÜV/GTÜ/KÜS/...) but that it is only due every 24 months... No real worry for 2 years between appointments. I "extended" the TÜV on my X308 by 6 months... Nobody could give a sh*t

When I left 'Orange Blossom Towers' to take my Grey XJS for Her MOT, I decided to put the Soft Top up, as it looked like rain.
Which may or may not have had an effect on what happened.
The MOT place was an hour down the road but all the way there the Temperature Gauge stayed in the bottom quarter of the Barrel Gauge and didn't move.
This was so unusual that for just a little minute, I thought that I'd left the Rad Cap off, when I checked the Water.
And had to pull into a Layby, to Check all was OK.
And even though the Weather was Warm, I've never had my Grey XJS run as Cool as this, so should I either just be pleased or else a bit worried.
Having Two Cars on the Blink would really spoil my day.

I wouldn't worry too much, there is a fair bit of uncertainty around the position of the dash gauge that can be effected by lots of things, even battery voltage will effect where the temperature needle sits as the dash gauges are not run from a regulated voltage.
Hi Warrjon
My Grey XJS
Was running so Cool that the Needle in the Barrel Indicator, hardly moved off from the bottom of the Gauge.
This has never happened before and had me thinking that either a Wire had come off somewhere, or maybe the Radiator had suddenly emptied itself.
So there was no Water from which to get a reading.
The Normal Temp on this Car has the Gauge showing a reading of 5mm below the half way line but this time the Needle was almost right at the bottom.
Where it stayed without moving for the journey there and back.

Congrat on the MOT, I know inspections can be a hassle, and wish the state I live in here did have them. Some of the vehicle people drive should not be allowed. Nebraska did have State inspections at one time, but did away with them mainly because the Farmers (I Think complained) because of the equipment they have. There are States that still have inspections and feel I feel its a good thing. Even though Nebraska does not have it anymore, I still am picky and have my vehicles gone over by either me or the garage, safety first
Does Grey XJS have a name? I don't know any grey blossoms. When I was aiming for a grey one, I was going to call her Lady Grey (as in the tea) or Lady Jane (as in Lady Jane Grey, the ill-fated lady who may or may not have been queen for a very, very brief time).
Stone Blossom
It is when the beautiful granit stones start blooming and little grey blossoms are to be seen. They can reach from light grey to a rather heavy grey. These are very rare but they have been seen
That is also the way how stones multiply! When you have one in your house you will short after have 2 and then 3, 4, ...
