According to my Haynes manual the 7/16ths cylinder head nuts are tightened in three stages:

Stage 1 = 25 Lbf/ft
Stage 2 = 40 Lbf/ft
Stage 3 = 52 Lbf/ft

The 3/8 nuts are tightened at stage 2 and three as follows:
Stage 2 = 20 Lbf/ft
Stage 3 = 28 Lbf/ft

These are for the pre HE engine, and the manual does not quote any different figures for the HE engine, which has a higher CR. Worth checking though as it is an HE you are working on.

Default Confused by Head torque specs in illustration

I am changing all coolant hoses and pipes on ‘72 Series 3 E Type… v12. In so doing, I found that the 3 head bolts at the very front of the head (both banks) are loose or not torqued at all. It results in an oil leak down the front of the engine. Well, the torque specs confuse me because these are 1/2” nuts and I see no such spec. These are the nuts labeled @14 in the illustration included.

since these are the final nuts to be torqued, can I simply retorque them now to the correct spec? If so, what is that spec please since it it neither 9/16” or 11/16”?

thank you.
