Default Dodgy ignition switch?

Afternoon all,
Had the car out in the sun yesterday for the first time this year. Had a run around and all was good then came home. Left it an hour and went to start up but would not turn over. Dash lights were on but nothing. Tried a jump start and it fired up so blamed it on a weak battery as grandson had been putting the roof up and down. Anyway went for another run out and pulled over to see if all was well. Turned her off and tried to start again , nothing. Fiddled about with the key in the ignition a bit out of hope and frustration and she fired up as if nothing had happened. Does this sound like the ignition switch may be a bit dodgy? Turned her on and off three or four times since and no problems.
Thanks in advance for your help

The ignition switch is a likely culprit but do check for any weak connections elsewhere in the starter circuit; the starter relay most notably but possibly at the starter itself.

Cheers

Check the engine ground. I had a similar issue with my 91 and corrected it using an auxiliary ground from the engine.

Engine bay, RHS rear just inside the wing under a plastic cover.

Thanks Greg. I think a bit of cleaning of connectors is first. Starter end is all good I'm sure but will double check.
