Slightly off-topic, sorry, but since you've got the cluster out, can you confirm if that is actually wood, or just imitation grain? I suspect the latter quite strongly.

Yes. The other sensor is for the fuelling control.

It's imitation. Same with the X300 saloons. All the other wood in the cars is genuine.

Yeah definitely fake wood coating on plastic. Of course one of the things I’m seeing is that it could be a grounding issue, which can possibly be remedied with cleaning of the contacts on the printed circuit, and a ground wire! Of course I didn’t see that until after I put everything back together! Smh!

Huh. Fake wood. Suspected as much. Bit cheap of them, frankly. Thanks, anyway.

Yeah and mines actually getting small "dots" on it if you look closely at it. I decided to tear the cluster out again and cleaned up my contacts and went ahead and added a ground and…temp gauge still doesn’t work! Also it’s decided to rain off and on. Drrrrrrrrrrrr

Welp I bought a IR thermometer and after a 4 mile drive it’s reading right about 190f on the upper radiator hose and thermostat housing, so I think its ok. Unfortunately now my oil gauge is pegging to the right. Smh! I know they are on the same ground so I am wondering if it’s still a ground issue.
