Please explain more clearly for the Willwood brake novice! Are you saying that
The forged Dynalite caliper will bolt straight up to the XJS upright without any modification?
What is the Willwood 6 piston caliper reference, and will it bolt straightn up to the factory upright?
Does it require a different disc, and if so, is there a WIllwood disc and bell that fits without modification?
Thanks[/QUOTE
if you go over to the XJ6 & XJ 12 site there is a guy who used.Wilwood calipers and rotors with a Wilwood bell. Pictures and part numbers.
It’s dated 2011. November I think.
He had his local machine shop drill the Bell but I just clamped the old rotor to the bell and transferred the hole that way.
In that same column there is a guy who put Brembo brakes on his XJ12 with ABS!!
Hi, might be worth talking to Klint at Compbrake in Wigan, UK, mention my name, they have recently done a kit using their PR6 caliper, with a 8 inch pcd bell and 330x32 mm rotor, 16 inch wheel minimum needed, larger discs as I keep calling them are possible with a 9 in bell. If interested I wlll try to upload their CAD drawings.
To me the price quoted seem very reasonable compared to the alternatives, regards Simon
Hi, have attached a pdf of their CAD drawings. The 330 x32 mm discs will bring it up to the size Lister used to fit on their big engine conversions and a weight saving of 4 kgs per side as an additional benefit.Regards Simon
Contacted them yesterday and they sent through a full set of drawings, one of which is the one you posted here. Most comprehensive response I've had from anyone so far!
Just starting to fit the Compbrake Kit, have to say very impressed with the quality and engineering, the separate mounting bracket for the calipers makes shimming the steering control arm a piece of cake! On my bathroom scales looks like an overall reduction of 5 kgs per side and 16 inch TWR wheels fit no problem, will try a later style xjs 5 spoke 16 inch and report back.
