Does anyone recognize this? Is it worth buying sight unseen? I have a XJS manufactured 6/95, and twice I've had to pay for diagnostics. If this is what I think it is, we could have another option on the "left" coast
Go to the General forum here. There’s lots of info on this system.
Spoiler alert, it does everything a PDU does except reset idle adaptations. It will reset TPS and reorient sensors. It also reads the specialized transmission and abs codes.
Make sure it comes with the b203 cable, otherwise it will only pull generic p codes.
JDS (Pinocchio) predates PDU and WDS.
Ignore the recommendation to REPLACE ENGINE HARNESS when requested to to so. Jaguar issued a TSB to STOP REPLACING ENGINE HARNESSES after a rash of replacements did not fix any faults specified by JDS.
I don't think it will operate with OBDII cars but I forget more than I remember about JDS. Pretty much OBDI tool. (1988-1994)
PDU replaced it and we used that into the late 1990s, early 2000s. It could be used for both OBDI and OBDII along with a mutiplex adapter.
WDS replaced PDU and IDS replaced WDS.
I have to step in on the JDS.
We just bought a used one for a reasonable price but in bad condition.
Might be functional though. I picked it up today and brought it home.
After a rough cleaning I switched it on. Lights went on (red power on switch and green indicator on the front).
Screen showed an asterisk and a blinking cursoer but that was it. I had one of the 3,5" disks in the floppy drive but nothing happened.
So now my questions:
Does the keypad have to be connected to boot the system ?
None of the disketts could be read under Windows. Should it be readable in a Windows disk drive ?
If so (disketts are from 1992) could someone provide me with disk Images ?
