Default Good Parts find

Though my '89 XJS is running great, I'm always looking for sources and potential spare parts. Couple days ago, I typed in JAG XJS on my local KIJIJI buy/sell, and up came an ad from a man with a '91 XJS, from a small town approx. 100 miles from here, who couldn't find anyone willing to do any service on his 5.3, so after a year, bought a John's conversion kit and swapped out for a 350 LT-1.
-He is selling the complete V-12 with 114,000km, transmission, driveshaft, radiator, and everything he removed in the swap, to me for $400.00. Mumsie and I are driving up the province tomorrow to get everything.
I think I will get my money's worth.

Update and reply to my own post, I did make the run to get the complete 5.3 V-12 powertrain for spares, the engine is in great shape after a very clean take-out, the man did take his time and unbolted everything necessary, no torching. The rad is original '91, but in mint condition, and the engine is all intact, down to all the linkages and every hose. I will be separating the tranny, and building a wheeled cart for the engine. I may even post a couple photos in a day or so.

Maybe I can save you some effort. Instead of building a wheeled cart, go to Home Depot (or similar store) and get the large 4 wheel pull cart. You can weld a couple pieces of angle iron on the sides to keep it stable. That's what I did and it works pretty slick!

The sides come off with just a couple pins.

I had just checked KIJIJI one evening, and up came this ad for the complete 5.3-V12 powertrain for sale in Minto NB, including complete engine, transmission, radiator, fan shrouds and fan, all hoses, lines, mounts, brackets, driveshaft. The older gent couldn't find anyone who would service the car for him, so after owning it for 4 years, yanked it out, bought a conversion kit, and had a 350 LT1 installed in it.
I saw the car,(dark green) the engine swap looked good and sounded good too...but certainly was no longer a Jaguar, just the body shell and rear end.
Since you're close, if you need parts sometime, message me. -I'm in Saint John NB

Uhhhh, I believe this cart is rated for 100 lbs, and looks a bit narrow to be supporting the V12. -I have some 1.5" X 3" box steel and lots of 2" angle steel. My thought was to weld up a framework to have it sit on it's mounts, and use some heavy duty casters, maybe a double set of shopping cart ones if I don't find anything else.

I couldn't find the same one that I have so I posted a pic of a similar one. Mine is rated at 750 lbs I believe. They have bigger ones rated over 1000 lbs.

Initially I had it on an engine stand but it was so unstable I was afraid it would flop over. Although it obviously sits much lower it is very stable and is extremely easy to move about. I even pulled it across my yard which is very uneven. In the future, I will make it so it attaches similarly to an engine stand so I can spin the engine upside down.

Just double checked, the one I have is rated for 1000 lbs and is $130 at Home Depot. Just make sure the tires are fully inflated!

Thanks Jamie, I'll go check the Home D cart before I do build one. -I tried the light one from your pix this morning when I unloaded it off the F-150, didn't like the feel of it.
